Borgo Egnazia - Puglia - This Way

Borgo Egnazia - Puglia

Last week I spent in the beautiful and authentic Italian city, Puglia. Puglia is on the south west coast of Italy. The nature and vibe is very Italian and authentic. Most of the buildings have charm and authenticity from the time during the Roman Empire. I flew to Bari airport and from there it took around one-hour car drive to Fasano in Puglia. I stayed at the amazing and very luxurious hotel, Borgo Egnazia. Borgo Egnazia is more like a village than a hotel. The hotel has an enormous ground which facilitates 5 different restaurants, around 100 rooms, a spa, gym, 3 pool areas, a lounge area, gold course, and beach club. They have everything. You can literally stay there for a week without leaving this romantic estate. The service is top level and the food is incredible. I ate pizza, pasta, and home-made gelato, and I was in heaven. There are also several activities you can do; there are bikes on the property which you can borrow and bike around, which I did every day. I biked from my room through the gold course to the beach. As a native Dane we love our bikes and get a true pleasure of biking in other cities too:) Furthermore there are several watersports activities. I did an olive oil tour and pasta cooking class, which was very interesting. This too place in Antica Masseria Brancati 20 min. car drive from Borgo Egnazia. Here I saw an olive tree plantage where tree were from 200 - 3.000 years old. Then I tasted the different olive oils and got to learn about the heaviness in taste of the different olive oils. Then I saw how pasta was made in the “Puglia way”. The most common pasta in Puglia is Orecchiette which I tried to make. I tried, and I succeeded in the end. If you want to discover different small villages in Puglia; Monopoli, Ostuni, and Bxxx are places to visit. If you go to Ostuni, then visit; Osteria del tempo perso, Casa San giacomo and Taverna Della gelosia (for gelato) I explored Monopoli which was a very cute little town filled with Italian restaurants. If you are looking for a romantic get-away or family quality time I can highly recommend Puglia. There are so many charming places and you will eat the best food. Below are pictures from Borgo Egnazia and from Masseria Brancati.
